Our Philosophy

Cosmetiq Clinic is one of its kind Plastic Surgery Centre located in the Capital city of Kerala, India. Gynaecomastia can affect a boy’s mind than their body. Our Procedures

During your first consultation we examine you thoroughly and discuss about your problem. After that you can see the before after pictures of many clients we have treated before. All your blood tests, hormonal evaluations will be done in the clinic itself. We don’t call it gynaecomastia surgery now a days, instead we call it upper body contouring. The results of this surgery are far superior if we address all the other regions along with the chest like the infra-axilla (arm pit fat) and upper abdomen. We use VASER liposuction for all our clients for the uniform liposuction and skin retraction. For removing the gland, we use a lateral circumareolar small incision and liposuction fully through the arm pits. We always show our best efforts to give a scarless contoured chest.

Minimal access Surgery

The surgery usually starts with a liposuction of the chest and the areas below the arm pits. There are different types of liposuction methods. We use VASER and MICROAIRE PAL when performing a liposuction, which gives a good uniform sculpted look.

Gland removal / Webster Procedure

After liposuction, the surgeon goes back to see whether there is remnant glandular tissue on the chest. If there is, it will be followed by a Webster procedure in which the surgeon will be making a small incision on the areolar boarder to remove the glands directly.

The surgeon makes the liposuction ports in the arm pits so there won’t be any visible scars. The areolar incision is also made on the lateral aspect of the areola and not in the inferior aspect, which also has a cosmetic advantage of no folding or depression after all the scars heal. We do not use any drains nowadays.

Skin removal

Skin removal along with fat and gland removal is considered only in severe grades of gynaecomastia. So times clients will have so much of sagging skin and even with the maximum skin retraction, there would be considerable skin excess and may not give an aesthetic chest contour. Only in those select patients, we remove the excess skin and glands and transpose nipple and areola after removing it from the skin discarded.

FAQs

For a physical or virtual consultation

What is the cost of Gynecomastia Surgery?

Cost depends on the type of grade of gynecomastia. Generally, the higher the grade of gynecomastia, the more effort is put into for liposuction and gland excision. Also, when using top notch technology like VASER liposuction the cost increases. On an average, costs range from 1300-1650USD (95,000-1.2 Lakhs INR)

How to select my surgeon?

A board-certified plastic surgeon with fellowship/experience in aesthetic surgery is the ideal surgeon. Board certification includes MCh/DNB plastic surgery. This is because gynecomastia surgeries are currently not just limited to gland removal but now has transformed into chest contouring surgery where the fat is also aspirated to give a more aesthetic appeal.

Do I need a surgery for Gynecomastia

The only treatment that can get rid of long-standing gynecomastia is surgery. But the cause must be identified and dealt with prior to surgery so that a recurrence can be avoided. If your chest feels heavy with protrusion of the nipple-areolar area you are most likely having gynecomastia. Medical management is effective during pubertal spurt or when it is of less than 6 months duration.

How long it will take to recover after the surgery?

Usual recovery time is 1-2 weeks. Bruising around the chest and abdomen is very common and usually disappears in 2 weeks. Oedema or swelling over the chest may obscure complete results but usually resolves in 3-4 weeks. There may also be temporary loss of sensation around the chest and nipples which returns to normal in around 6 months. The more the excess skin the longer it will take to settle properly in the correct position (redrape) and therefore will require more compression in the recovery period.

How many times I need to visit the hospital for surgery?

The first consultation with the surgeon before surgery in person is important to plan what you want and what can be achieved. This is followed by confirmation of a date for surgery, investigations and a pre anaesthetic check up with our anesthesiologist. The next visit will be on the day of surgery and the client is discharged the same day. The first review is after 5-7 days when the dressings and sutures are removed. A follow up visit after 2 weeks and at the end of one month would help us to assess remaining swelling and clear any other queries and this can be done even virtually. For a client who is traveling for surgery from abroad can ideally stay back for 2 weeks and minimum for a week.

When can I get back to my normal routine?

There is no recommended period of bed rest but staying within the confines of your house for the first 5 days would be better. 10 days after surgery activities requiring moderate strength can be started in gradation and return to normal routine is expected in one month’s time.
